The Secret of Personal Goal Setting
All your dreams may come true. Everything is possible. You can set up a goal and move towards achieving it. We can divide them into two very simple categories: small (short-term) or big (long-term) goals.
For the first one it’s very easy. You just achieve it. Let’s say, you want to travel to Brazil. Basically, what you need to do is to go to a travel agency and pay them.
But what is you want to move there? Here we have to adhere to certain rules if we want to eventually reach our target.
1.Big goals can be achieved faster and easier if you break them into several smaller ones.
2.The more specific goals you set, the faster you will get there. (A straight line is always shorter than a zigzag).
3.The faster you reach your target, the more confidence you obtain, the harder you will try to pass through more and more obstacles on your way. But remember, that achieving a goal just for the sake of achieving will not lead to satisfaction. Only to frustration. Stop sometimes and enjoy life.
4.Another key route to success in personal goal setting derives from the idea that goals should be different at various points in life. A big goal for a week is different from a big goal in 10 years. Obviously, the latter should overcome more time-consuming planning.
5.It is possible to achieve your goal if you do some preliminary planning. It works well for short-term ones where everything you need is result, but when you care about your future, neglecting details in planning could possibly lead to dissatisfaction even after having reached your “dream”.
6.Be informed. The more data you collect while preparing for goal setting, the better outcome will be witnessed by you.
7.Constantly practice, review and revise. “Repetitio est mater studiorum…”
